Freemasons New Zealand Special Olympics National Summer Games.

This week it is “200 days to go” before the start of the Freemasons New Zealand Special Olympics National Summer Games.
Waikato Freemasons went and watched a soccer game this weekend at Gower Park to support the Hamilton team and to be part of the photo below.
This photo is part of a NZ wide competition and the best photo wins $500.
And I was lucky enough that the team was short of one player so I could play as well. A fun event, all present thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

An update, the photo of the soccer team won one of the three $500 prizes, how good is that?

Another event attended by Waikato Freemasons, this time we were a formidable team of basketball players created from several Waikato Lodges who had a fun morning and played 2 games of basketball.
We were honoured by the attendance of our Grandmaster and the major of Hamilton for this event.
And the best, each of the three teams won one game and lost one game, thus all ending in a shared first place. How good is that.
After this event I am really looking forward, and am counting the days until the Freemasons NZ Special Olympics begins.

As you may know Freemasons NZ  has entered into an exciting sponsorship with Special Olympics New Zealand (SONZ) for their National Summer Games being held in Hamilton from in December 2022.

Special Olympics is a sports organisation for people with intellectual disabilities and is a worldwide movement.

This is the first time that Freemasons New Zealand (FMNZ) will be visible to the public in such a positive and high-profile way.

The sponsorship is worth $100,000, from The Freemasons Charity, and will be known as the Freemasons New Zealand Special Olympics National Summer Games.

We are anticipating that Lodges and members will also be able to get involved with SONZ in a hands-on way.
